Round 1: Paul Nicholson 3-0 Stuart Kellett
Kellett won the opening leg of the contest before losing the next three to Nicholson, who claimed won the opening set with the aid of 97 and 72 finishes. Nicholson then took the second set without reply after capitalising on missed doubles from the 32-year-old from Northwich, as he took command in the game. Kellett improved in the third set, which went to a deciding leg, but the set once again fell the way of Nicholson as he hit double eight to cross the finishing line.

1-1 – Nicholson hits back straight away as he posts double eight to break.
2-1 – Both players record maximums once again before Nicholson takes out a 97 finish to lead.
3-1 – Kellett is just off-target with an attempt at bullseye for a 128 checkout and Nicholson clinically takes out 72 in two darts to win the first set.
